Patiala House Movie Review

Director: Nikhil Advani
Cast: Akshay Kumar, Anushka Sharma, Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Prem Chopra, Hard Kaur, Rabbit Sack C

We all know how important this film is for Akshay Kumar's career which has taken a back by a series of flops. It is equally important if not less for "Nikhil Advani" who has not given a Hit since his first Directorial venture"Kal Ho Na Ho".Well, the verdict is out and here it is.

"Patiala House" is a movie of desires, passion, dreams. It is about Family ties, bonding, affection and love.Journey of Gattu(Akshay Kumar) who always wanted to play cricket but somehow could never convince his parents who are a typical Punjabi family settled in UK.
Anushka Sharma, his love interest gives him enough support to go for his dreams but it's his father,Mr."Rishi Kapoor" who would rather die than see his son play for England. The other characters of the film are apt to the movie's script and show the true essence of a Big and Happy Punjabi Family.
The performance of Akshay Kumar is one of his best,a hell lot better than his typical slapstick comical roles that he has been playing so far.It might remind you of him in"Namaste London"where he was simply superb. This is a story of Father-Son bonding where the Father,Mr.Rishi Kapoor steals the limelight with his impeccable performance as a Sikh. One could not battle an eye when he delivers his dialogues in the movie.Dimple Kapadia has done Justice to her role as the mother of Akshay Kumar.

The movie has its humourous touch but it completely fits the mood of the movie. The music is definitely a positive aspect of the movie.the placement of songs could be argued, but this real life inspired movie could have been made better with finer editing.

It is definitely a must watch for all Akshay fans and a one time watch for audience in general looking for a good family Drama as the movie will make you cry at many places.A lot of people will certainly relate to the lead character as the story is much like what happens in most of the Indian families today where Father of the family mostly rules and others rarely get to have their say.The message is "Go grab your second chance in case you missed the first one."

The movie is a comeback for "Nikhil Adavani" who got a lot of criticism for his last movie"Chandni Chowk to China".The climax is the best part of the movie and will hook you to your seats. The love angle has been shot well too.Overall a good movie being an Underdog and will do good business overseas.
